West Linn
Ranked number one in Money Magazine’s 2005 list of best places to live as Oregon’s most livable city and the 44th most livable cities in the United States.

West Linn is located just 12 miles south of Portland and is bordered by the Willamette and the Tualatin Rivers. It is a residential community with 3 small commercial centers where you’ll just as see as many people walking as driving. People who choose to live here are generally families who desire a strong sense of community, a public school system with “strong” and “exceptional” Oregon Department of Education ratings and to be close to Portland urban center. Traveling executives like West Linn because of the short 20 minute commute to Portland’s airport. The rivers are popular draws for fishermen and pleasure boaters who can find boat ramps and river access in the Bolton and Willamette neighborhoods. First occupied by settlers in 1840 and incorporated in 1914, West Linn’s older homes are found along the shores of the Willamette River in the Bolton and Cedar Oak Neighborhoods and the Tualatin River in the Willamette neighborhood. These neighborhoods are experiencing some rejuvenation as older homes are being torn down and replaced with new and larger structures. Travel up the hills of West Linn to find newer home as well as brand new developments under construction, many with picture postcard mountain and valley views. New homes are range from 2,000 – 5,000 square feet and prices from $400,000 to over $1,000,000. While in West Linn stop by Mary S. Young Park for a hike down to the Willamette River or visit Old Willamette for a festive farmers market (Wednesdays during spring, summer and fall) complete with music, crafts and an assortment NW produce.
